The Female Factor
My good friend Carolyn often suggests that we, and by “we” I mean all of our favourite friends, should become sister wives. Occasionally allowing our husbands conjugal visits on weekends, when we aren’t too busy making one another feel completely supported and loved. Don’t get me wrong, I love men. I’ve loved them since I can remember; maybe a little too much when I was a teenager, definitely the wrong kind in my early twenties, and now that I’m a grown up, I love the right guy…my Husband. Men aren’t the problem, it’s just that in my experience, women are just so damn amazing.
On The Mat is a company for and about women. Let me backtrack a bit. Having lived in a corporate environment for the past 15 years, surrounded by very few women, I know that the entire corporate world needs yoga like the desert needs the rain. Adding an ingredient like yoga in to any company will simply enhance the final product. As a woman, however, with small children, with a home to take care of, friends that I struggle to stay connected to, and a body I want to keep healthy, I know first hand how hard it is to be successful in that world and find the time…for all of it…for any of it. TIME. It is THE most important resource in my life. On The Mat gives women back the gift of time.
Sister wives may not be a realistic option for any of us (but if it is I beg you to reach out to me and let me know how it’s working) but inviting yoga in to your workplace is.
